Winter Weather Suspends Philadelphia Trash Collections Thursday

If your trash is picked up on Thursday's, you'll have to wait until next week.

The City of Philadelphia announced Wednesday that sanitation collection for Thursday, Feb. 9 will be suspended due to incoming winter weather.

According to Mayor Jim Kenney's office, residents who normally have trash collected on Thursday should hold their garbage until next week's round of collections.

City sanitation crews are expected to pick up normal collections on Friday, but Kenny's office said residents should expect delays in the service.

Crews will now be collecting trash in driveways starting Friday, Kenney's office said. Residents should place materials at curbside to be picked up.

In response to the forecasted snow, the city's Streets Department crews will be out in force in advance of the snow, around midnight, to salt primary and secondary roadways, according to Kenney's office. Crews will begin plowing as the snow accumulates and will treat and plow side streets and neighborhood streets as conditions permit.
