Bites Nearby: Selma's Brand of Home-Cooked Barbeque Hits the Spot

Selma's Texas Barbeque is the local restaurant choice of the week.

at 9155 University Blvd. in Moon is a small restaurant that's big on taste. 

The Lone Star state-themed eatery boasts a relaxing, home-like feel -- small, but cozy and packed with Texas memorabilia. This locally owned restaurant opened just a few months ago, but it's already making its mark with its brand of slow-cooked comfort food. Not to mention every wooden table has a window view of University Boulevard.

Popular dishes include St. Louis ribs, southern-style fried Catfish and the pulled-pork wrangler sandwich. On Mondays, Selma's has a $1 rib special (with no limit on the number of ribs you buy). Come by on Tuesdays for the $5 lunch special, which includes a pulled-pork sandwich with a side and drink.

Dinner plates, which include two sides and a corn muffin, range in price from $8.99 to $9.99, while sandwiches, run from $5.99 to $6.99. The many side-dish options include French fries, hush puppies, potato salad, cole slaw and made-from-scratch macaroni and cheese.

Selma’s menu also offers chicken, salads, samplers and a kid’s menu, as well as desserts. The restaurant serves Coca-Cola cake and banana pudding on a daily basis, plus another daily selection based on what the cooks decide to bake each day.
