Composer Alastair Stout Plans Local Performances

Coraopolis-based composer will perform his original choral and instrumental music this weekend at .

Stout, who is music director for the Coraopolis United Methodist Church and works with students at during yearly musical productions, said he will perform Shetland-inspired music he has composed over the last 12 years

“I come from Shetland, which is this tiny island north of Scotland,” Stout said. “So this is really inspired by the sea and the landscapes of Shetland, the culture.”

Stout will perform alongside the Pittsburgh Compline Choir, soprano Amy Stabnau, the Aurelian Piano Trio and hornist Carrie Smith.

The concert takes place at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 24 at . A second concert will take place 8 p.m. Saturday, June 23 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Highland Park. Both concerts will last one hour, Stout said.

The performances are free to attend.

The group has performed a number of concerts together throughout the year. This weekend will mark their final performances of the summer season, Stout said.

“We’ve been doing lots of concerts and the various performers have all been very busy,” he said. “This is really the last of the concerts for the summer, so it’s kind of a let-your-hair-down final performance.”
