The second annual I Want to be an Ambassador! program, a seven-day interdisciplinary camp open to young people entering eighth to 12th grades, is set to take place in Pittsburgh beginning on June 21, 2011 and ending June 29, 2011. The program includes special guest presentations, a roundtable with local business leaders, and culminates with a two-day excursion to Washington, D.C.
The goal of the Ambassador program is to direct the attention of young people in our region to the art and skills of diplomacy?including negotiation, analysis and communications skills. It begins with activities at the Senator John Heinz History Center and concludes with the Washington, D.C. trip, where students will meet with diplomats on Embassy Row and learn firsthand how ambassadors work together to improve our world.
I Want to be an Ambassador! is the creation of Luminari, a nonprofit organization founded by Hilda Pang Fu, to broaden young minds and inspire innovation in our region through activities and interdisciplinary programs.
