For the second year in a row, the Academy partners with Silk Screen to present three films throughout the month of January. Each film will be followed by a discussion on how the ideas presented in the documentaries challenge stereotypes. This week's film is They Chose China. Here is a description of the film: This feature documentary tells the astonishing story of 21 American soldiers who opted to stay in China after the Korean War ended in 1954. Back home in the US, McCarthyism was at its height and many Americans believed these men were brainwashed by Chinese communists. But what really happened? (Parental discretion.)
