Accomplishment: Most kids don’t get behind the wheel until age 15 or 16, but Andy Schlosser has been driving since age 8. He has since become a competitive kart racer.

Schlosser grew up around racing: His father, Dan, was a race reporter for TrackSide Online, a company that covers Indy Car racing. Between watching races on television and visiting the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the young Schlosser was hooked.
“When I was 8, we bought a used kart [from] a local family and practiced every time the track was open,” Andy said. “After my first race, the rest was history.”
Now in his eighth year as a kart racer, Andy competes at BeaveRun Motorsports Complex in both national and local races. This year, he has a strong lead in the championship about halfway through the season.
His success has led to his being chosen a driver for a national team. Additionally, Andy has been recognized as "Sportsman of the Year" six times for displaying sportsmanship and being a “friendly face at the track for everybody.”
It’s clear that Andy also has a friendly heart. He takes pride in helping young drivers learn the sport and encouraging their passion for racing.
“As a personal contribution to the sport, I'll help other families who are just starting out by coaching the drivers and working with them on tuning so that they stay in the sport and can one day hopefully perpetuate the cycle by doing the same for new drivers,” Andy said.
