Whiz Kid: Aurley Morris

Grade: recent graduate/ will attend Allegheny College in the fall

School: Sewickley Academy

Accomplishment: After serving as student body president in three of the four years of her high school career, Aurley Morris was qualified to speak at Sewickley Academy’s high school last Sunday.

Morris presented a memorable speech about her experiences with and its core values: character, community, diversity and educational vigor.

“I wanted my graduation speech to have a personal story in it because I find speeches like that to be the most interesting,” Morris said.

“I felt the most effective way to relay my time at Sewickley Academy was to tell personal stories for when the core values affected me and helped to shape me as a person as well as my classmates.”

Morris added that she wanted to point out that Sewickley Academy’s core values are “more than just slogans or catch phrases.”

“I have learned from each core value during my time at Sewickley Academy,” she said.

Morris said that she wanted to share things that her could relate to.
In the fall, she will attend Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, where she may continue to be a part of student council.
