The Snake In The Grass

When the going gets tough, the tough get recreating. The fantasy of a new you, a new team, and a new opportunity for profitable success is very entertaining.

Who says a leopard can't change its spots or a fur coat change your luck?

If you don't like who you are, what you have, and where you're not going - re-create yourself. Shed that worthless skin and snake your way to the fruit previously forbidden to you. Keep your eye on the prize and take your shot at hitting the bull's eye. Become a self-made personality and idolize your Maker.

Chances are that those tempted to re-create themselves are likewise tempted to do away with all the attributes that make them human and vulnerable. Soon, only the most promising people and things are worth spending your precious time and money - people and things that have also been re-created.

You tell yourself that you can be and should be marvelous darling. You convince yourself that you deserve more attention. You give up being real in order to be marketable. But, you forget that the spotlight is both hot and blinding.

Something like the sun in the month of August when the rattlesnake sheds its skin. The freedom of leaving the old for the new is refreshing for the snake but comes with a risk. For when something fast passes over the newly-exposed and untoughened skin of the rattler, it will bite at something no longer there.

That's correct - the rattlesnake that sheds its skin is in danger of destroying itself. The ability to renew oneself is the cause of the need to protect, isolate, and unknowingly, even destroy oneself.
