Burglary, Check Washing, DUI, Theft, More: Springfield Crime Blotter
Springfield Police said checks were stolen from boxes at Scenic Trolley stop, the township building, and Stoney Creek Shopping Center.
SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.
Incidents in the blotter occurred between Jan. 23 and Jan. 30.

Jan. 23 at 6:08 p.m.
Two male subjects were stopped by Target security at the mall after they tried to take two full shopping carts out of the store without paying for the merchandise. Target recovered $875 worth of merchandise. Both males, 22 and 20, of Chester, were taken into custody and later released. Charges for Retail Theft will be filed.
Jan. 25 at 4:51 p.m.
A vehicle was stopped by Ofc. Bergman for displaying expired inspection/emissions stickers on the 400 block of Baltimore Pike. The driver, Liam Tuohey, 23, of Norwood, was found in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine, and the vehicle was found to have been reported stolen out of Aston. Tuohey was taken into custody and held for arraignment. He was later transported to Delaware County Prison.

Jan. 26 at 3:41 p.m.
A 36-year-old female from Woodlyn will be charged with Retail Theft after Macy’s security at the mall reported she had stolen close to $200 worth of clothing.
Jan. 27 at 5:19 a.m.
A resident of the 300 block of Harwicke Road reported observing two male subjects inside his vehicle. He said he went out and yelled at the males who then got out of his vehicle and into two waiting vehicles on the street which fled towards Powell Road. Officers found the vehicle steering column damaged and a pair of sunglasses missing. Det. Cutcliff is investigating.
Jan. 27 at 4:25 p.m.
Officers investigated a crash on the 400 block of Briarhill Road in which a vehicle struck a parked vehicle. They found the driver of the striking vehicle to be intoxicated and took him into custody. The 36-year-old male from Springfield submitted to a blood test and was later released to family. Charges for DUI will be filed.
Jan. 28 at 8:58 a.m.
A resident of the unit block of Lownes Lane reported sometime between 12:01 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. someone attempted to take his vehicle from the driveway. An unknown person backed the vehicle and struck a pole and trashcans before leaving the vehicle behind and fleeing the area. Det. Cutcliff is investigating.
Jan. 29 at 9:58 p.m.
Officers responded to the 400 block of Valley View Road for a report of an overturned vehicle and the driver trapped inside. The driver, 36-year-old male from Upper Darby, was extricated by fire personnel and treated by medical personnel. He exhibited signs of intoxication and was asked to submit to a blood test at the hospital while receiving treatment. Charges for DUI will be filed.
Jan. 29 at 6:53 p.m.
Officers responded to the 200 block of Colonial Park Drive for a report that a vehicle struck a parked vehicle. The driver of the striking vehicle was found to be intoxicated. The 66-year-old male from Havertown was taken into custody and submitted to a blood test. He was later released to family and will be charged with DUI.
Jan. 30 at 12:05 a.m.
Officers responded for an alarm activation at a business on the 700 block of South Chester Road. While checking the building, Ofc. Boyd located a male inside the business. It was found the male had gained entry and stole computer equipment from several offices inside. Mark Damico, 41, of Aston, was taken into custody and charged with Burglary and related offenses. He was held for arraignment.
Several residents reported personal checks stolen out of mailboxes throughout town and washed and forged to create a different payee and a larger amount of money. The mailboxes reportedly were Scenic Trolley stop, the township building, and Stoney Creek Shopping Center. The US Postal Inspector is aware of this scam which has been happening for some time all throughout the County. Consider hand-delivering your mail to a post office.
