Student Struck By Vehicle Outside Delaware County School
The incident occurred Tuesday morning outside Penn Wood Middle School
A student was hit by a vehicle this morning outside a Delaware County School and school officials say the child's condition is unknown.
According to William Penn School District Superintendent Jane Ann Harbert, the child who is a student at Penn Wood Middle School was struck at about 7:30 a.m. outside the the school on Summit Road in Darby.
Harbert said the vehicle involved was not a school bus and the accident happened off school property.

Harbert said the student was partaking in horseplay when the incident occurred.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Harbert said the district had not received and update on the student's condition, but said the student was see walking after the incident.

No crossing guard is present where the incident occurred, Harbert said. She went on to say the district will continue to educate students and parents about safe conduct when crossing streets, staying on sidewalks,
"Our primary goal is to make sure kids are safe," Harbert said. "They’re young adolescents and they need to be reminded frequently, and parents need to talk to them, about safety."
