CYCLE-THERAPY Parkinson's Cycling Program
Research-based fitness classes for people with Parkinson's "It doesn't feel like I have Parkinson's when I am on the bike."

The simple act of pedaling a stationary bicycle could improve the lives of many people living with Parkinson’s Disease. Cycle-Therapy, a special series of indoor cycling classes for people with Parkinson’s, begin on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at Inner Drive Fitness, 210 S. Newtown Street Road in Newtown Square, PA. The Cycle-Therapy Parkinson’s Cycling Program at Inner Drive Fitness follows the same approach in a supportive group exercise environment. Led by a trained Parkinson’s Cycling Coach, participants work at their own pace, gradually increasing pedaling speed as the program progresses. While fast cycling is not a cure for Parkinson’s, there is strong evidence that it can improve the lives of many who try it.
“We’re so excited to bring this program to our facility,” stated Inner Drive owner, Jennifer Ashbrook. “We think it’s something that can really help people in our community living with Parkinson’s.”
Parkinson’s Disease is a chronic, progressive disorder that affects the ability to control movement normally. Common symptoms include tremor, slowness of movement, rigidity, and postural instability. There are nearly one million Americans living with Parkinson’s. Incidence of the disorder increases with age, but an estimated four percent of people with Parkinson’s are diagnosed before the age of 50.
