Delco Watering Hole Reopens After May Blaze
The May 7 fire tore through the local establishment, but like a phoenix, the area favorite has emerged from the ashes.
Months after a Delaware County pub and restaurant was ravaged by a fire, the local watering hole has emerged from ashes like a phoenix to again serve up its food and drink.
Barnaby's in Havertown has reopened to cheers from its patrons after a cigar butt caused a fire that left much of the building scorched.
The established officials welcomed the public back inside on Sept. 3 after the May 7 fire left much of the West Chester Pike destroyed.

The fire broke out in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 7 when a discarded cigar, still smouldering, ignited a fire in some mulch, which then spread to the building's deck and ultimately the building itself. Luckily, the building was not a total loss, which paved the way for its Sept. 3 reopening.
The newly renovated Barnaby's features new floors, walls, ceilings, kitchen, booths and furniture, three bars, three private areas, and a deck, according to the Delaware County Daily Times.

“We couldn’t be more excited to be back open and show our new and improved restaurant to our loyal customers,” Dan Hurst, general manager and executive chef at Barnaby’s Havertown, told the outlet.. “The entire project took us 14 weeks from start to finish. We all worked tirelessly and we’re thrilled to be up and running in time for football season. The staff is happy to be back home and our customers keep telling us that they genuinely missed the place.”
"Barnaby's has been a great part of our community and we wish them the best of luck as they return to normal business," Manoa Fire Company, which responded to the blaze, said on Facebook. "Best Wishes and we will be back soon for some of your great food."
Barnaby's is located at 1901 Old West Chester Pike in Havertown and is open 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. all week long.
