Drugs, Vandalism, Theft, More: Springfield Crime Blotter

A Havertown man was in possession of cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop, police said.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Jan. 30 and Feb. 5

Jan. 30 at 3:38 p.m.
A 25-year-old female from Smyrna, Delaware, will be charged with Retail Theft after Macy’s security at the mall reported she stole $270 worth of fragrance from the store. She was taken into custody, and charges will be filed.

Jan. 30 at 6:51 p.m.
Target security 800, block of Baltimore Pike, reported a female stole close to $950 worth of merchandise and left the store. Target security recovered some items as the suspect entered a truck and left the area. Officers observed the truck on Baltimore Pike and stopped it near Bishop Avenue. The female driver, 60, of Ocean City, New Jersey, was identified as the suspect and taken into custody. The female was later released, and charges for Retail Theft will be filed.

Feb. 1 at 11:53 a.m.
A vehicle was stopped for failing to signal a turn and expired inspection on the 400 block of Baltimore Pike, and the driver was found in possession of cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. The male driver, 46, of Havertown, was taken into custody. He was later released, and drug charges are pending.

Feb. 2 at 6:29 p.m.
A shopper at the mall reported that while eating at Sbarro Eatery someone stole his shopping bag which was on the floor next to his table.

Feb. 2 at 7:41 p.m.
A 52-year-old male from Clifton Heights was taken into custody and was charged with Public Drunkenness and Disorderly Conduct after Miller’s Ale House employees reported he was yelling inside the business and refusing to leave. Employees reported he had been drinking inside the restaurant all afternoon, and when asked to leave he refused and began to annoy employees and customers. He was held for a period of time but was uncooperative upon his release, so was held again until he was sober.

Feb. 3 at 11:45 a.m.
Police became aware of a vandalism incident which occurred in the men’s restroom under the visitor bleacher area at the Springfield High School. Investigation revealed that two male juveniles were involved in damaging a mirror and faucet handle inside the room and glass being thrown into a toilet and around the floor. Charges will be filed for Criminal Mischief.

Feb. 5 at 1:48 p.m.
Two incidents of vandalism to a bathroom at the Springfield Mall were reported by mall security in which a sharpie was used to deface a wall in the room.


Police continue to take reports of written personal checks being stolen from mailboxes in town and then washed to pay out a larger amount than originally written. Consider hand-delivering your mail at a post office and not using a mailbox. The US Postal Inspector has been made aware of this ongoing problem.
