DUI, Theft, More: Springfield Crime Blotter

A vehicle at the YMCA was broken into and a wallet and laptop were taken. See details on this incident and more here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Police in Springfield Township issued their weekly crime blotter Monday.

Incidents in the blotter occurred between Oct. 24 and Oct. 30.

Oct. 24 at 11:07 a.m.
A resident of the 200 block of Ridgewood Road reported sometime overnight Saturday, Oct. 22 to Sunday Oct. 23 someone stole a rocking chair from the front porch.

Oct. 26 at 7:17 a.m.
Three vehicles parked by patrons of Orange Theory, 100 block of South State Road, were broken into and items stolen from inside sometime between the hours of 6 a.m. and 7 a.m.

Oct. 26 at 3:46 p.m.
A 28-year-old male from Philadelphia will be charged with Retail Theft after Target security at the mall reported he stole food, underwear, and a TV. The same male had been stopped and warned by security about a theft earlier in the month.

Oct. 26 at 6:01 p.m.
A parent was dropping her child at the YMCA, 100 block of West Sproul Road, and parked in the lot. While inside the building, the vehicle was entered, and a wallet and laptop stolen. The laptop was later recovered on a nearby property, and unauthorized purchases in Philadelphia were found on the stolen credit cards.

Oct. 28 at 3:39 p.m.
Macy’s security at the mall reported stopping a 45-year-old male from Philadelphia after watching him steal over $200 worth of clothing. The male was taken into custody, processed, and released. Charges for Retail Theft will be filed.

Oct. 29 at 10:44 p.m.
A 58-year-old female from Folsom will be charged with DUI and traffic offenses. Officers investigated a crash on State Road near Springfield Road, in which she drove into the rear of a stopped vehicle. She was found to be intoxicated and taken into custody. She was later released, and charges will be filed.

Oct. 30 at 1:47 p.m.
Macy’s security at the mall reported they observed a male steal a coat and clothing and leave the store. The male was able to get on a SEPTA bus and left the area. A short time later, SEPTA reported stopping the male in Upper Darby Township. Officers responded there, and the male was identified as the thief. The male, 56 years old, from Philadelphia, was found to have active arrest warrants from Delaware County. The Macy’s merchandise recovered as well as item stolen from Ulta. Delaware County Constables transported the male to the prison, and charges for Retail Theft will be filed.
