Student 'Hoops to Heart' Fundraiser Gives to American Heart Association

The annaul Hoops for Heart Tournament kicks off today, May 25, after school in the E.T Richardson Elementary School gym with 6th grade participation.

Thursday, May 26, the tournament for 7th graders, 8th graders and staff members will take place.

So far, the school has collected approximately $1,650 for the American Heart Association.

Jason Carpenter, a 12-year-old 6th grader, raised $530 for the Hoops for Heart fundraiser for the American Heart Association, making him  the top fundraiser at the elementrary school for the second year in a row. Go Jason!

Jason, who was born with and fights Congenital Heart Disease, raised funds in honor of a Boothwyn girl, Jillian Shallock.  Jillian is 10 months old and received a heart transplant 4 months ago at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Other top fund raisers, who collected $30 or more, are Chris Fleming, Mattie Porter, Abby Richards, Evelyn Kampmeyer, Mark Charamella, Zakera Davis Sudler, Tyler Allen and Ashley Elliot.
