FBI Crime Statistics for Springfield

A comparison of 2009 to 2010 shows violent crime reports have remained the same each year.

The FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) program shows crime statistics in the United States from 1960 through the most recent reports on an online database. The FBI website states that, overall, U.S. crime has dropped by 6 percent. The following are lists of offenses in Springfield known to law enforcement for 2010 and 2009, respectively, for comparison.

Comparison of 2009 to 2010 shows the population has increased slightly, violent crime reports have remained the same, at 21, and forcible rape and robbery have decreased slightly.

Motor vehicle theft increased by four. Aggrevated assault has increased by three. There were two less cases of arson in 2010 than in 2009 but two more incidents of murder or non-negligible manslaughter.

Larceny-theft has decreased by 40 incidents and property crimes have also decreased. Reported burglaries decresed by three.
