Fire Company Responds to 974 Incidents In 2011

No firefighter fatalities were reported in 2011, however one civilian fatality was reported. Seven firefighters and 10 civilians were reported injured for the year, a 12-month fire report states.

Board President Jeffrey Rudolph read a report from Chief Robert Woolson with 2011 year end statistics during the meeting Jan. 10.

From Jan. 1, 2011 through Dec. 31, 2011, the fire company responded to a total of 974 incidents, which includes 216 fires, 413 non-fire, 232 mutual aid and 113 drills and work sessions, the report states.

Rudolph noted that over $1 million in loss was reported in 2011. The loss summary includes $567,850 in structures, $393,500 in contents and $113,500 in vehicles to total $1,074,850 in loss reported last year.

There were 15,194 man responses to incidents with 1,143 hours and 30 minutes in hours spent on incidents. Total man hours for 2011 total 13,440 hours and 45 minutes.

On apparatus and equipment, Chief Woolson’s report states the following: 

“During the past year, the fire company has continued it’s excellent apparatus maintenance program. All apparatus is in excellent condition, working order and are presently in service. Through grants, we were able to upgrade our radio and conference room in to a Township Emergency Command Center that was put to use during . The fire company continues its discussions with the township in pushing back the replacement of engine 44-2 until 2013/2014 due to the economic situation facing the township.”
