For the Birds: Committee Member Warns of Pesticide, Predator Dangers

Jim Davis, Environmental Advisory Committee member, warned of pesticide dangers for birds.

Environmental Advisory Committee Member Jim Davis spoke passionately May 24 before 10 Springfield High School government class students on the importance of bird watching and how birds impact the community.

Davis said the number of songbirds is currently dropping year to year and contributed it to residents’ usage of DDT as well as invasive species and predators.

Springfield Environmental Advisory Committee, created in 1977, advises township commissioners regarding environmental issues identified by community members, sponsors forums and information sessions and seeks to create long term projects to improve the environmental well-being of Springfield Township.
