Girl Hit By Car After Getting Off School Bus In Springfield

A 7-year-old girl was struck by a car after she got off a bus in Springfield Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — A young girl was hospitalized after being struck by a car while getting off a school bus Wednesday afternoon in Springfield Township, police said.

According to police, the incident occurred at 3:39 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 on the 400 block of East Woodland Avenue.

Police gave the girl first aid as they awaited for Springfield Ambulance to take the girl to Crozer Chester Hospital.

Police are working to find out what exactly happened. Action News reports the girl — identified by her family as 7-year-old Jayzlin Yeboah — was struck by a black Honda vehicle while crossing the street after getting off the bus.

The outlet reports its unclear if the driver has been or will be charged.

The Springfield School District said she is a student at Sabold Elementary School.

"The Springfield School District is aware of a car accident that occurred on Woodland Avenue this afternoon involving a student from Sabold Elementary School," the district said in a statement. "We have been in touch with family, and obviously, our hearts and prayers are with them. When and if additional information is available, permitted, and appropriate to be shared, we will do so accordingly. Thank you for your continued cooperation and support."
