“A negative variance isn’t good,” Lanciano said.
There were 629 less plaid-clad golfers on the course last May than in previous years.
The average number of rounds for May is 4,875; there were 4,246 rounds played last month.
Year-to-date rounds are 1,013 below the average of 10,226 at 9,213.
Lanciano attributed the declines in rounds and revenue to unfavorable weather, noting that the area had 4.15 inches of rain in May.
The traffic report shows zero rounds played in January this year due to snow, affecting YTD numbers.
Lanciano encouraged residents and the public to make use of the golf course.
“We must have a good operation there to substantiate the course long-term,” he said. “Hopefully July and August numbers will turn it around.”
The 6,018-yard par-70 golf course and country club are open 7 days a week.
