Kevin is passionate about playing ice hockey and plays on two traveling teams. If professional hockey doesn’t work out for Kevin, he thinks that after graduating from college he could be an engineer. When not in school or playing hockey, Kevin likes hang out with his friends and spend time with his parents, who he thinks “are the best people in the whole world.” He especially likes to spend time with his friend Mike who has cancer, whom he rallied the middle school to aid.

“Kevin genuinely cares about others. It is his nature to look out for others and try to help to them whenever he sees the need. I have witnessed his selfless giving many times with his peers – Those he knows well and those he doesn’t know at all,” said Maeve Walsh, his math teacher.

“One of Kevin’s classmates was recently diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Kevin organized a fund raising project which involved selling bracelets with the proceeds going to the classmate’s family. Kevin worked diligently to sell 200 bracelets, collecting over $500. It was truly gratifying to see him at work helping a friend in need,” said Karen Gaffney, sixth grade school counselor.

“Kevin’s organization of the fundraiser to help his friend with cancer and his family was outstanding. He is a role model for all of us at ETR,” Principal Dan Tracy concluded.

For these reasons and many more, it is a pleasure to recognize Kevin Brown as the Springfield School District February Student of the Month.
