Live Bird's Head Bitten Off In Video, Springfield Police Investigating

A post on social media showed a man biting the head off of a parakeet. Authorities in the area are now investigating the incident.

SPRINGFIELD, PA – A social media post showing a man biting the head off a live parakeet has prompted an investigation from Springfield Township Police, Chief Joseph Daly confirmed to Patch Thursday.

Police said the report came in Thursday afternoon and authorities are in the preliminary stages of the investigation.

Daly told Patch once investigators narrow down more detail, police will decide how to proceed with the case.

The social media post that spurred the investigation contains screen shots of a man, who police believe to have just turned 18, biting the bird's head off in what appears to be a Snapchat video.

The post was shared to the Lost Pets Of Delaware County PA Facebook page and has since drawn the ire of many members of the page.
