Morgan is looking forward to graduating in June and starting the next phase of her life. She plans on attending Bloomsburg University in the fall. She will be an education major and hopes to be a special education teacher upon earning her Bachelor’s degree.

Morgan participates in an internship program at SHS that provides her work-study release time to help at the (SLC) in the kindergarten program. When Morgan isn’t busy with school work, she works part time as a banquet server at the , volunteers at the Don Guanella School for the mentally challenged and likes to spend time with her family in the Pocono Mountains.

The faculty at SHS were quick to praise Morgan. Kelly Pedrotty, her school counselor said, “Morgan is a phenomenal student that I have had the pleasure of working with for five years. I have known Morgan since she transitioned in eighth grade from a small private school to ETR.  It has been amazing watching her mature and evolve into a self-assured young woman. Morgan is ambitious, hardworking and resilient.”

“It's a real pleasure to work with," Nick McCann her math teacher added. "She is a positive influence to the class and is mature beyond her years. I'm impressed by both her desire to grow intellectually and the respect she displays to teachers and peers alike. We're lucky to have her and look forward to hearing about her success beyond SHS.”

Marine Lorah from the special education department summed it up nicely by saying, “I’m so happy Morgan is the student of the month. Academically, she started slowly but she has ended her years at SHS as a self-directed, self-advocating, responsible and motivated student who knows how to learn and will succeed in life.”

For these reasons and many more, it is a pleasure to recognize Morgan Bustamante as the Springfield School District January Student of the Month.
