Nick is already thinking about next school year. He is looking forward to attending as a sixth grader for many reasons. One reason is that he’ll get his own lock and locker. After graduating from high school and college, Nick said he wants to be, “a sports analyst.” He really likes sports and following professional athletic teams. He is also an avid ice hockey player playing for two teams, the Springfield Cougars and Haverford Hawks. When Nick is not in school or playing hockey he likes to spend time with his family, his friends and playing video games.

The staff at Scenic Hills related how highly they regard Nick.

“Nick is a polite and hardworking young man who is appreciated by his classmates and teachers,” said Eileen Roche, one of his teachers.

“Nick enjoys science and loves the hands-on labs we perform," Meg Rizzio added. "He was most excited about his eco-column activity during the Ecosystem Unit.  He is always focused and engaged in science.”

“Nick is one of those kids that is always observing and evaluating what’s going on around him," said David Soslau, principal of Scenic Hills.

"His awareness and strong foundation in the idea of ‘doing right’ help him enjoy positive peer interactions and academic success. He is skilled in steering clear of the social traps of popularity and attention-seeking behaviors that many kids struggle with at this age. His work ethic, maturity, and smart decision-making sets a great example for others to follow. He’s one to watch as he grows up in our community – And his fourth grade sister Annarose is a pretty great kid too.”

For these reasons and many more, it is a pleasure to recognize Nick DePrinzio as the Springfield School District March Student of the Month.
