Philly Man Stole $125 In Coins From Vehicles: Springfield Police

Police said a Philadelphia man stole $125 in coins from several vehicles in Springfield Township Monday night and Tuesday morning.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — A Philadelphia man is behind bars after allegedly stealing from vehicles in Springfield, according to police and court records.

Springfield Police said early Tuesday morning, officers and witness helped catch a man who allegedly stole from several vehicles in the area of Glendale Circle.

Police have charged George Thomas, 25, of Philadelphia, with three counts each of theft by unlawful taking, theft from a vehicle, and receiving stolen property, court records show.

After apprehending Thomas, police said they found $125 in coins on him.

Thomas is in the county jail after failing to post 10 percent of $15,000 bail, court record show.

He is slated to appear for his preliminary hearing on July 11, according to court records.

Thomas has had previous interactions with law enforcement in Delaware County in the past. He faced a felony trespassing charge in 2018, felony burglary in 2016, and harassment in 2014, court records show.
