PD Blotter: Alleged Drunk Driver Passes Out On Road

Items Stolen from Trunk

A Woolrich Township, New Jersey resident reported that sometime between 5 p.m. and 5:29 p.m. on May 28 someone entered the trunk of his vehicle and stole a set of Ping golf clubs and a golf GPS device while the vehicle was parked in the lot at the . The victim was not sure if he had secured the trunk properly. The loss is valued more than $1,700.

Accident Leads to DUI Charges

Springfield Police responded to a reported traffic accident at Sproul Road and Sheffield Drive at 4:41 p.m. on May 29. Patrolman Joseph O’Berg arrived to find a two-vehicle accident with no injuries. One of the operators, Shaun Walsh, 49, of Willowbrook Avenue in Lansdowne, was allegedly intoxicated. He was taken to , had blood drawn, and was then transported to the Springfield Police Station. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and was later released to a relative. The incident is under investigation by Detective James Devaney.

Attempted Home Invasion

A resident from the 400 block of Kerr Lane reported May 31 at 7:20 p.m. that sometime during the day someone attempted to forcibly enter his home through a sliding door. The door is located adjacent to the deck on the rear of the home that backs up to a wooded area. The damage was to the locking mechanism of the door. Detective James Devaney is handling the investigation. No entry had been gained to the home.

Bike Stolen from Unlocked Shed

A resident from the 100 block of Rose Lane reported June 2 at 11:08 a.m. that sometime during the night someone stole his aluminum-colored Rhino Men’s adult mountain bike from the unlocked shed in the rear yard of his home.

Bike Stolen at Rite Aid

A Springfield youth reported June 2 at 11:33 a.m. that sometime during the afternoon on June 1 someone stole his black boy’s bike from the front entrance of the Rite Aid Store in the 100 block of Saxer Avenue.

Juvenile Charged with Retail Theft

in the reported June 2 at 2:14 p.m. that they had a young male in custody for alleged retail theft at the store. Patrolman Joseph O’Berg responded and took a 17-year-old juvenile from Broomall into custody and transported him to the police station. He was issued a citation for retail theft for allegedly taking $13.73 worth of merchandise from the store. Detective James Devaney is handling the investigation. He was later released to a relative.

 Window Cracked at Ravioli Company

in the 100 block of Saxer Avenue reported June 3 at 7:18 a.m. that sometime overnight someone cracked a large window on the front of the store.

15 Bras Stolen

The in the Springfield Mall reported that sometime between 6 p.m. and 6:21 p.m. on June 3 someone stole 15 bras from a display in the front of the store. The loss is valued more than $800.

Alleged Drunk Driver Passes Out On Road

Springfield police received a report of a possible intoxicated driver in the 500 block of Maddock Road at 9:47 p.m. on June 3. Patrolman Dante Annacone arrived to find a vehicle stopped in the middle of the street with the driver passed out behind the steering wheel. Salvatore Franzini, 24, of the 1000 block of Cedarwood Road in Glenolden, was allegedly intoxicated. He was taken to Springfield Hospital and had blood drawn. He was then released to a relative. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident is under investigation by Detective James Devaney.
