Police: Thieves Prey on Unlocked Cars

Several unlocked cars were rummaged through and a GPS was stolen from one, according to police.

Preventing thefts from vehicles can be as easy as pushing a button. Often crimes are committed because of opportunity, as demonstrated in the following incidents. 

Unlocked Car Entered

A resident from the 800 block of Sheffield Drive reported on June 15 at 6:08 a.m. that sometime overnight someone entered her unlocked vehicle and rummaged through its contents. It does not appear as if anything was taken from the vehicle, which was parked on the street in front of the home.

GPS Stolen from Unlocked Vehicle

A resident from the 200 block of Pancoast Avenue reported on June 15 at 7:14 a.m. that sometime overnight someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole a Magellan GPS Unit while the vehicle was parked on the street in front of the home.

Unlocked Car Rummaged Through

A resident from the 300 block of E. Leamy Avenue reported on June 15 at 7:16 a.m. that sometime overnight someone entered his unlocked vehicle that was parked in the driveway of the home. The vehicle was rummaged through and it does not appear as if anything had been taken.
