In a unanimous vote, Springfield School District Board of Directors elected Sarah J. Mosser Sept. 22 to represent Region 2.

Mosser will replace from the board Sept. 8. She will serve the remaining two years of Carlson’s four-year term.

Director Donald Heller nominated Mosser in an unusual process, in which the board elects the replacement Region 2 director, due to the timing of Carlson’s resignation. Mosser was not present at the Sept. 22 meeting.

This type of election is unusual because, in most situations, a special election is held; however, because Carlson resigned within 60 days of the school board election this November, PA law gives the board auhority to elect a replacement for the remaining term, Director Donald Cadge said.

Mosser told Springfield Patch she is “thrilled.”
