Springfield Crime Blotter: Drug Overdose, Underage Drinking, More

Police charged a man with after he was found suffering from an alleged overdose and was allegedly in possession of PCP and marijuana.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — The latest crime blotter from Springfield Township Police is out, and the details are below.

Incidents that occurred between Sept. 16 and Sept. 22 are included in the blotter.

Sept. 16 at 7:03 a.m.
A suspicious person was reported in the area of West Leamy Avenue and Spring Valley Road. Witnesses observed a male subject walking around several residential properties. Officers located Anthony DiMaio, 40, of Drexel Hill, wandering the neighborhood. DiMaio appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance. DiMaio was arrested and cited for Public Drunkenness and Disorderly Conduct.

Sept. 16 at 2:17 p.m.
A resident from the 1100 block of Providence Road discovered his unlocked vehicle was entered overnight. A $20 bill and loose change was stolen. A neighbor recorded a suspect on home surveillance. Det. Bridget McCarthy is investigating.

Sept. 17 at 8:55 p.m.
Target, 1200 Baltimore Pike, reported a retail theft. Jeffrey Allen Rhoads, 43, of Prospect Park, was observed placing merchandise in a brown, reusable bag. He proceeded to customer service and returned the stolen items for cash. Total amount of the theft was $241. Security detained Rhoads who was turned over to police and charged with Retail Theft. Detective Dan McNeely is handling the case.

Sept. 19 at 10:15 a.m.
Police responded to a residential burglary in the unit block of North State Road. The resident reported the crime occurred the day prior between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. The home was entered through an unlocked sliding door. Four packed suitcases and several laptops were stolen. The incident is under investigation.

Sept. 19 at 6:40 p.m.
Police responded to an overdose in a vehicle at State Road and Meetinghouse Lane. Jonathan Richard Evans, 43, of Delaware, was found unconscious behind the wheel. Several doses of Narcan were administered before Evans regained consciousness. Marijuana and PCP were found in the vehicle. Evans was transported to the hospital for further treatment. Charges for DUI are pending.

Sept. 20 at 3:26 p.m.
While on patrol in the 600 block of Baltimore Pike, Officer Michael Kingsbury observed an argument between a male and female at the bus stop. Upon speaking with the male, it was apparent that he was under the influence of a controlled substance. Both subjects were in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Vincent Appleton, 26, of Aston, and Tiffany Niehorster, 26, of Maryland, were arrested and charged with drug offenses. Det. Dan McNeely is handling the case.

Sept. 21 at 2:48 p.m.
Target, 1200 Baltimore Pike, reported a retail theft. Abdulahi Odadele, 19, of Massachusetts, was observed selecting merchandise, bagging it at the self-checkout and attempting to leave the store without paying. Total amount of the theft was $70. He was detained by security and turned over to police. Odadele was cited for Retail Theft and released. Det. Dan McNeely is handling the case

Sept. 21 at 9:42 p.m.
Police were dispatched to a possible underage drinking party in the 500 block of West Woodland Avenue. As they arrived, noise could be heard from the residence and teenagers observed through the windows. Police contacted 17 juveniles from Springfield, Morton, Swarthmore and Drexel Hill. All admitted to drinking and beer was observed throughout the house. All the juveniles were released to parents and charges for Underage Drinking will be filed.

Sept. 22 at 12:07 p.m.
Target, 1200 Baltimore Pike, reported a retail theft. Barett Lovett, 49, of Philadelphia, was observed with an unidentified female concealing merchandise in a black tote bag while inside the elevator. Lovett was detained by security as he attempted to leave the store. Total amount of the theft was $143. He was cited for Retail Theft and released. Det. Dan McNeel
