Springfield Junior Making An Impact
Cameron Durham's versatility gives the Cougars an additional weapon.

did something last Friday it hadn’t done in five years—win its season opener. The Cougars’ 35-21 victory was very impressive and it also revealed a secret weapon that Springfield coach Tom Kline sees emerging more as the season progresses.
Junior Cameron Durham intercepted a pass and scored on a 35-yard touchdown reception from Ryan Strain. Durham punts, plays a little running back and is also the team’s back-up quarterback. When he’s not doing all of that, he’s selling programs at halftime (just kidding).
“Cameron does so many different things for us; his 45-yard punt pinned Interboro at one point during the game Friday night,” Kline said. “Cameron is part of a good junior class that we’ve had high expectations for. There are going to be a lot of kids that will help us out, and one of them is Cameron. He transferred in here as a sophomore and we realized he would help down the road. He gives us
flexibility to be dangerous everywhere. He can run the ball, he’s our back-up quarterback.

“He wanted to play running back, and I want to spread him around. He’s going to play a variety of spots and get about eight to 10 touches a game, but we have a variety of players who are juniors that are going to get their share of the ball. We won’t be one-dimensional this year. I think it makes us more dangerous than last year. People keyed on Matt Craig, it was a great dimension to have, but if you took that away, we were in trouble. We can come at teams from different ways.”
Springfield faces another test this Friday when it visits Harriton. The Cougars just got by Harriton last year 20-16. “It will be a tough game,” Kline said.
