Springfield Police Blotter: Assault, Distraction Theft, DUI, More

Police said a Springfield man was arrested after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend. See full details on this and other incidents here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA – Springfield Township Police issued their weekly crime blotter on Monday, shedding light on police activity in the township that occurred between Aug. 13 and Aug. 18.

Police handled a domestic abuse case, a distraction theft, a DUI, a burglary attempt, and more.

Aug. 13 at 10:17 p.m.
Ofc. Oswald observed a vehicle make a wide turn from Leamy Avenue onto Orchard Road. He observed the vehicle strike the curb two times on Orchard Road and stopped the vehicle on Lownes Lane. He found the operator of the vehicle, a 32-year-old female from Springfield, intoxicated. She was taken into custody and asked to provide a blood sample. She was later released to family, and charges for DUI are pending.

Aug. 13 at 11:03 p.m.
Officers were called to 800 block Grove Avenue to investigate a female who was walking around a property with a flashlight. Ofc. Annacone found Elizabeth Hartfield 35, of Delaware, in the area. She was found to be intoxicated and could not provided a valid reason for being in the area. Hartfield was taken into custody and transported to headquarters where she was charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. She was held overnight before being released.

Aug. 14 at 12:45 p.m.
Officers responded to a 911 hang up call in which a male was heard yelling in the background. The dispatched called back and found a female was reporting being assaulted inside a house on the 900 block Rocklyn Road. Officers located the female and found her bleeding from several areas of her body. She reported her boyfriend had assaulted her after a disagreement over a phone call she had received from another person. David Wright 37, of Springfield, was arrested and charged with assault. He was held for arraignment at Springfield Court.

Aug. 16 at 3:45 p.m.
A female reported that while shopping at Giant 900 block Baltimore Pike she was distracted by two females who asked her for help finding food and asked her to use her phone. She assisted them and let them use her phone. After they left and she went to pay for her items, she found her wallet missing. She learned that her debit card had been used at Target. Det. McCarthy is investigating.

Aug. 17 at 10:46 a.m.
A resident of the 1100 block Church Road reported the gate to his rear yard was found ajar, and a screen window removed from a window on the garage. The screen was located on the ground outside, but entry into the house was not gained.

Aug. 17 at 5:53 p.m.
Officers were called to the Springfield Mall as three subjects were running through the parking lot with stolen merchandise. Mall security chased the subjects on Sheffield Drive and lost them on the 1000 block Baltimore Pike. Officers learned that the subjects had stolen three watches from the Dakota Watch kiosk inside the mall. Officers did recover a bag of stolen items from Pacific Sunwear abandoned by the subjects on Sheffield Drive. Those items were returned to the store.

Aug. 18 at 9:36 a.m.
A resident of the 500 block East Leamy Avenue reported that sometime overnight someone removed the mailbox and wooden post from the front of the property.
