SPRINGFIELD, PA – The newest Springfield Police blotter is out and it covers police activity in Springfield that occurred between Nov. 12 and Nov. 18.
Most notably, police said a man suspected of breaking into numerous area businesses was arrested and awaiting charges.
Police also handled incidents involving retail thefts, DUI, fraud, and more.

Nov. 12 at 8:58 a.m.
Officers investigated four burglaries which occurred overnight; Philly Pretzel Factory, PK Nail Salon, Sunshine Nail Salon, and Shear Pleasure along the 500 and 600 block Baltimore Pike. Rear doors were pried or windows smashed to gain entry and a quantity of cash was taken. Earlier in the morning Morton Police arrested a subject for burglarizing a nail salon in their jurisdiction. This same subject had been observed by a Springfield officer earlier in the night loitering around the Days Inn Motel in Springfield. Video surveillance confirmed the same subject committed the burglaries in Springfield. The subject, a 40-year-old male from Philadelphia, was found to have been staying at the Days Inn, and charges for burglary and related offenses are pending.

Nov. 12 at 10:27 a.m.
Pacific in the Sunwear Springfield Mall reported a female removed three piles of clothing on display and fled the store without paying. The clothing was valued at about $800.
Nov. 12 at 1:16 p.m.
A female called from the Springfield Mall to report her credit card was used at the Finish Line Store. She reported that while eating at the Panera Bread on Baltimore Pike her purse was hanging off the back of the chair. Someone removed her wallet from inside and went to the mall and made purchases at Finish Line, Champs, and Macy’s before leaving the Mall. Det. Devaney is investigating.
Nov. 13 at 4:51 p.m.
Target at the Mall security reported observing two females accompanied by a child selecting merchandise and concealing it in bags and a baby stroller. The females fled the store and loaded the merchandise inside a waiting vehicle before leaving the lot. Target recovered some merchandise but lost about $180 worth of products. Det. McNeely is investigating.
Nov. 14 at 12:55 p.m.
A resident of the 400 block Briarhill Road reported someone had removed the Pennsylvania registration plate from the back of her vehicle sometime between Nov. 12 and Nov. 14.
Nov. 14 at 4:08 p.m.
CVS on the 300 block of Baltimore Pike reported two subjects had just stolen a shopping bag of merchandise and fled the area in a vehicle. Both subjects were inside the store wandering around and made a small purchase at the front counter. The female then selected and concealed numerous items as the male went outside to pull the car up to the door. The female then exited the store with about $200 worth of merchandise and entered the vehicle which fled the lot. Det. McNeely is investigating.
Nov. 18 at 4:28 p.m.
Target at the Mall security reported a female in custody after they observed her select and conceal over $300 worth of clothing and baby items. Kwana Johnson, 32, of Philadelphia, was taken into custody and charged with retail theft. She was held for arraignment at District Court.
Nov. 18 at 7:16 p.m.
While investigating a crash on State Road at Meetinghouse Lane in which a vehicle struck the rear of a stopped vehicle, Ofc. Francis found the driver of the striking vehicle to be intoxicated. The 41-year-old male from Media was taken into custody and asked to provide a blood sample. Charges for DUI and traffic offenses are pending.
An unlocked vehicle was entered on West Avenue and loose coins were taken on Nov. 16, and two unlocked vehicles were entered on Lynbrooke Road and cash and a debit card were taken on Nov. 18.
