Springfield Police Blotter: Credit Card Theft; Fraudulent Coupons; Commercial Burglary

Police responded to reports of burglaries, thefts, fraud, and more. See what went down in the township here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA – Springfield Township Police released its latest police activity report, which covers incidents between June 5 and June 10.

June 5, 2:17 p.m.
A woman reported that while shopping in the Giant Store Baltimore Pike at 9:30 a.m. her wallet was stolen. Credit cards were found to have been used in Delaware.

June 6, 3:06 a.m.
Ofc. Annacone located two male subjects walking near Wayne Avenue and Hillview Drive. One was found to be a juvenile from Upper Darby who had a juvenile arrest warrant from Delaware County. He was taken into custody and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

June 6, 9:38 a.m.
Owners from the M&A Nails and Spa Baltimore Pike reported that the side door to their business had been pried open sometime overnight. A small amount of money was taken from the cash register. Det. Nutley is investigating.

June 6, 4:38 p.m.
Calia Thomas, 18, of Clifton Heights was arrested and charged with retail theft after being observed by Best Buy security stealing a $749 cell phone from a display rack. She was held and taken for arraignment at Springfield Court.

June 7, 1:26 a.m.
A male from Springfield was stopped in his vehicle by Sgt. McKinney after being observed driving carelessly on the 700 block West Sproul Road. He was found to be intoxicated and was placed under arrest for DUI. Charges are pending.

June 7, 4:21 p.m.
The CVS on Chester Road reported that a male subject had left the store failing to pay for an unknown quantity of toothpaste and facial cream. Det. McCarthy is investigating.

June 8, 9:37 p.m.
Xiao Zhou 34, of Brooklyn, New York, was arrested at the BJ’s Wholesale after investigation by Sgt. Welsh revealed that he was using fraudulent coupons to purchase large amounts of baby formula on multiple occasions at the store. A large amount of formula was recovered from Zhou’s vehicle, and Zhou was held and arraigned at Springfield Court.

June 9, 3 a.m.
An 18-year-0ld female subject from Brookhaven was cited for underage drinking after being found by Ofc. Cutcliff walking in the area of Valley View Road and Welsh Drive under the influence of alcohol. She was later released to a relative.

June 9, 4:20 p.m.
A resident on the 300 block of Sout. Norwinden Drive reported that sometime during the day someone had forced open a side door and entered the house. A small amount of jewelry was taken. Sgt. J. DiTrolio in investigating.

June 10, 5:25 p.m.
An employee at the S&B Sports Promotions table in the mall reported that an unknown male subject took a Barry Bonds signed baseball bat from their display and left the mall without paying for the bat.
