Springfield Police Blotter: Drug Arrests, Thefts, DUI, More

Police arrested a Springfield man after he was allegedly found high on heroin in a parked car Dec. 22. See details on this and more here.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA – The most recent Springfield crime blotter is out and it covers incidents in the township that occurred between Dec. 18 and Dec. 22.

Police handled thefts, drug possession, DUI, and more.

Dec. 18 at 2:25 a.m.
While on patrol, Ofc. Cutcliff observed a vehicle driving carelessly on the 900 block East Woodland Avenue. Upon making contact with the driver, he found the driver to be under the influence of marijuana and located a quantity of marijuana on the driver floor area. The driver, a 20-year-old male from Woodlyn, failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. He was released to family and will be charged with DUI.

Dec. 18 at 8:20 p.m.
Officers responded to the 800 block Garrett Lane for a report of a fight in the street involving two male subjects. Upon arrival, they found four subjects loitering around a vehicle in the street. Two of the subjects had been involved in a physical altercation prior to police arrival. Two of the four subjects, an 18-year-old from Philadelphia and an 18-year-old from Springfield, were cited for disorderly conduct.

Dec. 19 at 11:55 p.m.
Ofc. Cutcliff found a vehicle traveling on the unit block East Woodland Avenue had a suspended registration for insurance cancellation. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver found to be under the influence of marijuana. Drug paraphernalia was found inside the vehicle. The driver, 29 years old from Drexel Hill, was taken into custody and will be charged with DUI and drug offenses.

Dec. 19 at 1:26 p.m.
A customer at the Bed Bath and Beyond 800 block Baltimore Pike reported a male and female had attempted to steal her wallet from her shopping cart. She said while walking around the store pushing a cart, a male and female walked close to her, and the male draped his coat over her cart and wallet. When he removed the coat, she noticed her wallet was gone. The victim saw the male holding the wallet and was able to grab it back from him. The male and female then hurried out of the store and fled in a waiting vehicle. Responding officers observed the suspect vehicle in the lot near Woodland Avenue and were able to stop the vehicle. Taken into custody were a male whose identity is still being confirmed and Tamea Wilson, 31, of Philadelphia. Both were held for arraignment and both are suspects in a similar theft reported one week prior.

Dec. 20 at 1:21 p.m.
Target at the mall security reported investigating an employee for an under-ringing incident which occurred earlier in the month. The employee under rang a customer $375 worth of merchandise. The employee, a 19-year-old woman from Chester, will be charged with retail theft.

Dec. 20 at 5:43 p.m.
While investigating a crash which occurred on the 600 block West Springfield Road. Officers found the driver to be intoxicated. A 68-year-old man from Lansdowne was arrested and will be charged with DUI and traffic offenses. He was released to family.

Dec. 21 at 7:30 a.m.
A resident of the 600 block Barclay Circle reported sometime overnight someone removed gifts from her vehicle as it was parked in the driveway.

Dec. 22 at 1:21 a.m.
Officers investigated an occupied vehicle with an unconscious driver inside on Gleaves Road. The driver was found to be unconscious with the vehicle blocking the roadway, and the transmission in drive. Officers were able to awaken the driver and secure the vehicle. The driver was found to have recently injected heroin, and heroin and crack paraphernalia was found inside the vehicle. The driver, a 29-year-old man from Springfield, was taken into custody and will be charged with DUI and drug offenses. He was also found to have an active arrest warrant from Delaware County for a probation violation and was transported to Delaware County Prison.
