Springfield Police Blotter: Fraud, Assault, Theft, More

Police said a 32-year-old man was arrested after an alleged assault incident that sent a woman to the hospital. See more details here.

The blotter covers incidents that occurred between June 24 and June 30.

June 24 at 8:36 a.m.
Officers responded to a report from the Giant Store 700 block West Sproul Road regarding two females who entered the store and stole over $600 worth of beauty supplies. Sgt. J.DiTrolio is investigating.

June 24 at 9:14 a.m.
A resident of the 600 block Old Schoolhouse Lane reported his mailbox and post was knocked to the ground some time over the weekend.

June 24 at 3:17 p.m.
Frederick Douge, 31, of California was arrested and charged with Retail Theft after being observed by Target security 800 block Baltimore Pike stealing over $700 worth of children’s clothing. He was held for arraignment.

June 25 at 1:41 a.m.
Officers were called to the area of the 500 block Glendale Circle to investigate a male subject looking through parked vehicles. Officer Francis arrived and located a male walking away from a parked vehicle which had its interior light on. The male was found to have a large amount of loose coins in his pockets and inside a bag he was carrying. Officers had taken several reports of vehicles entered in the area in which money was taken from inside. George Thomas, 25, of Philadelphia, was taken into custody and charged with Theft and other offenses. He was held for arraignment.

June 25 at 10:45 p.m.
A victim reported being at the Wawa store 100 block Saxer Avenue and left his bicycle outside unattended. While coming back outside he observed a male subject walking away with the bike and placing it inside a van. The van then drove away. Officers tracked down the van in Morton and identified those inside, a 17-year-old male from Morton and a 16-year-old male from Darby, but did not locate the bike. During a followup Det. McNeely recovered the bike from the Darby male. Charges were filed.

June 27 at 5:13 p.m.
Officers were called to the Santander Bank 100 block South State Road to investigate a subject attempting to cash a fraudulent check. Officers responded and identified the subject inside the bank and stopped two others inside a vehicle which was observed leaving the area. All three subjects were arrested and charged with Theft and Fraud offenses. Dennis Cobb, 22, of Philadelphia, Mikal Hodge, 21, of Philadelphia, and Willie Singletary, 18, of Plymouth Meeting were held for arraignment at Springfield Court.

June 29 at 417 a.m.
Officers responded to the 700 block West Springfield Road for a report of a male and female fighting. The female was found to have been assaulted by the male after an argument on the 700 block Parker Lane. The female was taken to the hospital for treatment, and Jason Gooden, 32, was arrested and charged with Assault. He was held for arraignment.

June 30 at 6:39 p.m.
Samantha Farmer, 30, of Darby, was arrested and charged with Retail Theft after being observed at Target 800 block Baltimore Pike stealing over $350 worth of jewelry. She was taken into custody and held for arraignment.
