Springfield Police Blotter: Stolen Diamond Rings, DUI, More

Police said two people stole diamond rings from the Kay Jewelers store in the Springfield Mall. See details on this and other crimes here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — The most recent Springfield Police crime blotter is out, so let's see what went down in the township over the last week.

The blotter covers police-handled incidents that occurred between Feb. 18 and Feb. 24.

Officers handled thefts, DUI, stolen packages, and more.

Feb. 18, 12:32 p.m.
Officers assisted Media Police who had pursued a vehicle wanted for a hit and run crash in Media Borough into Springfield. Officers located the wanted vehicle parked and unoccupied on Server Lane. Officer Graff then located the suspect driver, a 40-year-old female from Media, walking near Springfield and Britton roads. She was stopped and identified and turned over to Media PD.

Feb. 19, 1:32 a.m.
While on patrol Officer Dunkle observed a suspicious vehicle in the Parkway Inn lot. He followed the vehicle as it left the lot and drove at a high rate of speed on Baltimore Pike. The vehicle drove through a red signal and skidded to a stop before making a turn onto North Avenue where it was stopped by police. The driver, a 30-year-old female from Philadelphia, was found to be intoxicated. She failed field sobriety tests and refused a blood test. She was taken into custody and later released to a friend. Charges will be filed for DUI and traffic offenses.

Feb. 19, 4:25 p.m.
Target at the mall security reported they had a subject in custody for stealing over $100 worth of merchandise from the Shoe Department. Police identified the female as Sabriah Holmes, 20, of Drexel Hill. She was taken into custody and charged with retail theft. She was found to have an active arrest warrant out of Delaware County and turned over to Constables for transport to Delaware County prison.

Feb. 21, 12:30 p.m.
Two male subjects were in the Kay Jewelers at the mall looking at rings. As they were being assisted by employees one of the subjects took two diamond rings off one the employee’s hands and ran out of the store and out of the mall. Det. Devaney is investigating.

Feb. 21, 3:31 p.m.
A resident of the 200 block North Norwinden Drive reported a delivery package had been removed from her property sometime in the afternoon while she was out.

Feb. 24, 7:59 a.m.
A resident of the unit block Colonial Park Drive reported he received a Ring doorbell notification at 2:39 a.m. which showed a subject in his driveway attempting to enter his vehicle. The vehicle was locked and the male walked away towards Nield Road.

Feb. 24, 8:18 p.m.
Target at the mall security reported observing a female in the store selecting TV electronic merchandise and placing them in a shopping cart. The female pushed the cart through the exit doors on the lower level and was stopped by security. Target recovered over $300 worth of merchandise. While taking the female to the security office, she escaped and ran out of the store towards Baltimore Pike. A short time later Officer Kingsbury observed a female fitting the description near the Carrabba’s restaurant outside the mall. She was identified as the same female from Target and was taken into custody. While at the police station, she was found to possess drugs and drug paraphernalia. Cynquita Niblack, 50, of Philadelphia, was charged with retail theft and drug offenses and held for arraignment.
