SPRINGFIELD, PA – Springfield Police released their weekly crime blotter on Monday.
The blotter covers incidents that police handled between Sept. 3 and Sept. 9.
Notable incidents include a stolen vehicle, DUIs, and thefts.

Sept. 3 at 1:10 p.m.
A vehicle previously reported a stolen from the Springfield Mall on Aug. 28 was recovered in Philadelphia by Philadelphia Police Department.

Sept. 4 at 3:29 p.m.
The Wine and Spirits Store 100 block Baltimore Pike reported a male entered the business on Sept. 1 and took a $15 bottle of coconut rum from a display shelf. He left without paying.
Sept. 5 at 9:56 p.m.
Ofc. Cutcliff responded to the mall parking lot to investigate a subject who was reportedly trying to enter parked vehicles in the lot. He located a male subject in the lot who was highly intoxicated and just wanted a ride home. The male was given a ride to the police station and turned over to his mother. David Glenn 54, of Wallingford, was charged with public drunkenness.
Sept. 6 at 215 a.m.
Ofc. Cutcliff observed a vehicle drive through a red signal on Baltimore Pike at Saxer Avenue. He stopped the vehicle and found the driver appeared to be intoxicated. After failing several field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested for DUI. The 28-year-old male from Upper Darby was taken into custody and submitted to a blood test. He was later released to family, and charges are pending for DUI and traffic offenses.
Sept. 6 at 1:31 p.m.
While dining at Panera Bread a customer learned that her wallet was missing from her purse and numerous fraudulent credit transactions had been done on her accounts. Det. McCarthy is investigating.
Sept. 7 at 2:53 p.m.
An employee of the Halloween Store 1000 block Baltimore Pike reported that after the day’s work she went to the parking lot and found her vehicle had been stolen. She also realized that her keys were missing from her purse which had been kept inside the store during the day.
Sept. 7 at 11:10 p.m.
While on patrol, Ofc. Kingsbury found a Kia vehicle parked in the shopping center lot on the 1000 block Baltimore Pike which had previously been reported stolen out of Philadelphia earlier in the day. Philadelphia Police Department was contacted, and the vehicle was later released to the owner.
Sept. 8 at 7:27 a.m.
Officers were called to the 100 block Barbara Drive to investigate a male subject who was reportedly trying to enter parked vehicles. Ofc. Bierling found Brian Stewart 24, of Springfield, in the area, and he was found to be intoxicated. He was taken into custody and charged with public drunkenness.
Sept. 8 at 6:43 p.m.
Target at the mall security reported they observed a female select over $114 worth of clothing and conceal it in her purse. She was stopped by them while trying to leave. Shamir Satchell 28, of Philadelphia, was taken into custody and charged with retail theft.
Sept. 9 at 2:02 a.m.
Ofc. Kingsbury observed a Ford pickup truck driving recklessly on Woodland Avenue near Powell Road and stopped the truck near Rhoads Drive. The driver of the truck was found to be intoxicated and failed several field sobriety tests. He was taken into custody and refused a blood test. The 38-year-old male from Media was held until later in the morning when he was turned over to a friend. He will be charged with DUI and traffic offenses.
Sept. 9 at 11:54 p.m.
Ofc. Dunkle observed a Jeep vehicle driving recklessly on the 1100 block Baltimore Pike and stopped the vehicle after it went through a red signal on the 1000 block. The driver, a 55-year-old male from Glenolden, was found to be intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests. He was taken into custody and refused a blood test. He was held at headquarters and will be charged with DUI and traffic offenses.
