Springfield Police Blotter: Thefts, Burglary, Public Drunkenness

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA – Springfield Police issued their weekly crime blotter Monday, highlighting police activity in the township between Aug. 21 and Aug. 26.

Police dealt with a juvenile theft case, public drunkenness, thefts from vehicles, and more.

Aug. 21, 3:57 a.m.
Officers responded to a burglar alarm at the Springfield Diner, 700 block Baltimore Pike. When they arrived they found glass to the entrance doors smashed out. Investigation showed entry had been gained and a quantity of money missing from an office. Det. McNeely is investigating.

Aug. 22, 6:12 p.m.
Officers arrested a juvenile female from Drexel Hill after she was observed by Target at the mall security stealing over $40 worth of cosmetics from the store. She was charged with retail theft and released to her mother.

Aug. 22, 9:30 p.m.
Sharon Connolly 34, of Aston, was arrested and charged with public drunkenness after being found intoxicated outside of the Springfield Hospital. She was found to have active warrants out of Springfield Court and was held until turned over to Constables the next day.

Aug. 23, 4:58 p.m.
A resident of a house on the 900 block Edwards Drive reported that sometime during the afternoon someone had entered the house and removed cash and jewelry from inside. Det. McNeely is investigating.

Aug. 23, 5:57 p.m.
Officers were called to the mall parking lot to investigate a person who had been observed entering parked vehicles. Officers located the person on Chester Road at Swarthmore Avenue and he began to run from them. Others officers searched the area and located the suspect on a property on Cedar Lane. It was found that he had stolen money from several vehicles in mall lot. Hassan Miller 24, of Chester, was taken into custody and charged with theft. He was held for arraignment at Springfield Court.

Aug. 25, 10:24 a.m.
Christopher Krivan, 49, was taken into custody and will be charged with trespassing after being found inside a house on the 100 block Wayne Avenue sleeping on the second floor. This property has been vacant and is undergoing renovations. It was learned that Krivan had previously been told multiple times to not be on the property or face criminal charges. An unlocked screen window was found to have been pushed up and entry to the house was made. Krivan was transported to a hospital to receive medical care for an unrelated illness prior to being charged.

Aug. 26, 1:01 p.m.
Employees at the Sprint Store, 1100 block Baltimore Pike, reported two male subjects entered the store and stole several iPhones from display. One of the subjects distracted the employee while the other stole the phones. Det. McNeely is investigating.
