Springfield Police Blotter: Thefts, DUI, Drug Possession, More

The most recent blotter features theft cases, credit card fraud, underage drinking, drug charges, and more.

Sept. 17 at 4:53 p.m.
A patron of Panera Bread reported that while inside the business eating, someone removed her wallet which was inside her purse hanging from the back of a chair. Her credit cards were later found to have been used without authorization.
Sept. 17 at 5:40 p.m.
Target security on the 800 block Baltimore Pike reported they had a subject in custody for stealing eight video games which he had concealed in his jacket pocket. Police arrested Corey Thompson, 19, of Wallingford, who was also found to have an arrest warrant out of Delaware County Court. He was charged with retail theft and held for arraignment.

Sept. 18 at 4:12 a.m.
Officers responded to the unit block of Longview Drive for a report of a subject asking for help. Officers located Andrew Choe 33, of Exton, who claimed he was very “high” and admitted to ingesting cocaine and methamphetamine. He had no idea why he was in Springfield. Choe was treated by Medical personnel and transported to a hospital. He was charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
Sept. 18 at 2:09 p.m.
An employee of the Police and Fire Federal Credit Union on the 1000 block Baltimore Pike reported that while she was assisting a customer, someone removed her cell phone which she left on a counter. Video surveillance showed someone removing the phone. Det. Devaney is investigating.
Sept. 19 at 9:48 a.m.
Jim’s Steaks on the 400 block Baltimore Pike reported sometime overnight someone pried open the rear door and removed a safe and a tool box containing money. Investigation found that entry to the business happened at about 5:30 a.m. by two males. Det. Devaney is investigating.
Sept. 19 at 2 p.m.
The SOU was conducting surveillance in the area of the 600 block East Woodland Avenue and developed information that a wanted person was residing inside apartment building A, 610 E. Woodland Ave. Officer Graff with the assistance of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office located the subject outside the building, and after a brief foot chase took him into custody. Derek Laporte, 40, was wanted for a drug charge probation violation and was transported to Delaware County Prison by the sheriffs.
Sept. 20 at 7:59 p.m.
Target at the mall security reported stopping a male for stealing over $20 worth of Bic lighters. The subject was taken into custody and found to have multiple retail theft convictions. Julius Knight 34, of Philadelphia, was charged with retail theft and held for arraignment.
Sept. 20 at 10:08 p.m.
Target at the mall security reported a female stopped for taking $150 worth of clothing and accessories and concealing them inside a large purse she was carrying. The female also provided false information during processing. Officers found the female was Jateira Reid 20, of Philadelphia. She was taken into custody and charged with retail theft and false identification to law enforcement.
Sept. 21 at 9:05 p.m.
A juvenile female from Springfield was cited for underage drinking after being found intoxicated at the Springfield High School during the varsity football game.
Sept. 21 at 11:35 p.m.
Ofc. Cutcliff while conducting a special DUI patrol stopped a vehicle for speeding on State Road near Golfview Road. During the stop he detected marijuana was inside the vehicle and found the female passenger, 25, from Rhode Island, was in possession of a quantity of marijuana inside a plastic baggie. The female was taken into custody and transported to Haverford PD to be processed. She will be charged with drug possession.
Sept. 22 at 1:39 a.m.
Ofc. Christy stopped a vehicle on Sproul Road near Kennerly Road after observing the vehicle fail to stop for a red signal at Woodland Avenue He found the driver, 44-year-old woman female from Springfield, to be intoxicated. She failed field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for DUI. She submitted to a blood test and was released to a friend. Charges for DUI are pending test results.
