Springfield Principals Get Keystone Awards
Each school has made adequate yearly progress for two consecutive years.

Superintendent Dr. James P. Capolupo presented Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Keystone Achievement Awards to the district’s five school principals during the Thursday, Jan. 12.
Each school has made adequate yearly progress for two consecutive years (2009-10 and 2010-11).
Principal Frank McKnight, Principal Daniel Tracy, Principal Cynthia Mattei, School Principal David Sousa and Principal Wendy Yohn each received plaques in the shape of a keystone.

Capolupo noted that January is School Board Recognition month and, later in the meeting, solicitor Mark Sereni asked high school political science students in attendance if they knew how much the Board of School Directors are paid for their service.
“Zero,” one student answered.

Sereni confirmed that school board members are the only elected public service officials in Pennsylvania who, by law, get no monetary compensation.
