Thousands In Glasses Stolen From Springfield, Ridley Stores: Police
The suspect hit eye wear stores in both townships on Aug. 8, resulting in more then $5,500 in merchandise being stolen.
SPRINGFIELD, PA – Authorities are on the hunt for a man suspected of stealing thousands of dollars worth of eyeglasses and sunglasses from stores in Springfield and Ridley townships. Altogether, the man stole $5,584 worth of merchandise, police said.
According to Springfield Township Police, the crimes occurred the morning and evening of Tuesday, Aug. 8.
The first incident took place at For Eyes Optical in Ridley at about 11:30 a.m. Aug. 8, police said.

The suspect entered the store and browsed the men's section before telling the clerk he needed to get his prescription from his vehicle, police said.

When he didn't come back inside the store, the clerk noticed the man took $2,679 worth of designer glasses, police said.

Then, at about 7:30 p.m. that same day, the suspect entered the Lenscrafters store in Springfield, police said.
The suspect asked a clerk to adjust a pair of glasses and while doing so, the suspect put $2905 worth of glasses and sunglasses in his pants then fled, police said.
He was last seen getting into a newer model white four-door car and then fled the area, police said.
Police described the suspect as 5-feet 5-inches to 5-feet 8-inches tall with a thin build, short hair, and a goatee. He was wearing dark pants, a black shirt, and black-framed glasses, police said. Police also said he behaved in a slightly effeminate manner.
