Underage Drinking Prompts Delco Police To Increase Patrols

Police said large amounts of trash, empty alcohol containers, food, and even furniture have been found in wooded areas where kids drink.

SPRINGFIELD, PA — Underage drinkers in Springfield have been put on notice.

Springfield Township Police said they are increasing patrols to crack down on underage drinking, littering, parks violations and curfew using a grant obtained from the state.

The initiative stems from an increase in underage drinking, destruction of property, and littering in the township.

"The amount of trash, food, empty beer and other alcoholic beverage containers, and furniture left behind in wooded areas of the park is woeful," police said. "We expect parents to be understanding that violations will be strictly enforced, and that our community is all of ours to care for and respect."
