Join Spark the Wave for a 5k Run/Walk for NEDA!

Club Wave Hatboro-Horsham High School is holding a 5k run/walk on April 13^th at Carpenter Park in Horsham, PA. Spark the Wave (STW), a nonprofit organization focused on empowering teens to be stronger volunteers and leaders in their communities, is sponsoring the event.

Hatboro-Horsham junior and STW program alumni, Carly Foster, serves as Club Wave president. She and fellow club members have been organizing this event over the course of the school-year to benefit the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA).

Club Wave is a student-led and student-driven after-school program in high schools throughout the region in which members are encouraged to plan their own service projects based on their own inspirations. Foster brought Club Wave to HHHS after attending Wave Week, one of the premier leadership and community service camps in the region. Spark the Wave holds each summer at Villanova University.

At Wave Week, students like Carly learn the valuable skills they need identify a need in their communities and start on a path towards making a change. They are challenged to plan and execute their very own service projects—and Foster is doing just that.

Foster says her motivation to start the race “slowly stemmed into a desire to inspire, to reach out, and raise awareness. Most importantly, I want to start a revolution of positivity to help individuals find the road to recovery.” Not only will proceeds from the event go to NEDA, but the organization will also be sending along a guest speaker set to hit the stage as the morning kicks off.

The 5k Run/Walk for NEDA will be held on Saturday, April 13^th, at Carpenter Park located at 1000 Horsham Rd. Horsham, Pa 19004. Registration will take place the morning of the event between 9-9:30am for $25. Hope to see you there!
