Lockman & Lubell Pediatric Associates Are Newest Donation Site for Cradles to Crayons

Lockman & Lubell Pediatric Associates and Cradles to Crayons Partner in Vital Task:
Local Pediatric Group Takes on Challenge of High Poverty Level among Area Children – A group of local pediatricians is lending a helping hand in the urgent effort to address poverty among children, today the highest it has been in America in more than 50 years.
That eye-opening fact has led Lockman & Lubell Pediatric Associates to embark on a mission to enlist area families to gather children’s items that no longer fit, have fallen out of favor, or simply were never used, and bring them to their Commerce Drive office in Fort Washington, which is serving as a donation site for area nonprofit Cradles to Crayons.

“One out of every five children in the five-county southeastern Pennsylvania area lives in poverty,”* said Bruce E. Lockman, M.D., “a number that is increasing every year, not just in Philadelphia, but in the suburbs as well...where rate of poverty is actually increasing faster!” * We want to make it as convenient as possible for families to convert children’s items that are no longer needed into children’s items that can be put to good use by the area’s low-income and/or homeless children.”
Lockman & Lubell Pediatric Associates is located at 270 Commerce Drive, #250, in Fort Washington. 215-653-0600.

Items in greatest need include new and nearly new infants’ and children’s clothing, socks and underwear, warm coats, hats, footwear, newborn baby items, baby safety equipment, books, and arts and crafts/school supplies. A more detailed list of needed items (and unacceptable ones too) is available at www.cradlestocrayons.org/philadelphia/most-needed-items.
“An added benefit of this collection,” said Dr. Lockman, “is that ‘reusing and recycling’ these children’s products – well before the end of their useful lives – keeps them out of landfills…and that means helping to clean the environment.”
Items collected at Lockman & Lubell Pediatric Associates will be brought to Cradles to Crayons’ “Giving Factory” in West Conshohocken, where they will be sorted, inspected, cleaned, and then prepared in personalized KidPacks, ready for pickup by one of Cradles to Crayons 260 social service agency partners for delivery to a child in need.
