The Women of Spring

Spring comes again

And women bloom,

Their petal arms

Reach out in all their beauty

Before the adolescent warm sun.

Flowers sprout from their bodies

Explode on Easter hats

Resembling those found on bakery cakes

With bold pastel flowers on their sides.

Flowers blossom from their clothes

In various species of silk, wool, and satin

They range from delicate shades

To flamboyant ones of red, blue, and yellow

Screaming Spring’s triumphant arrival.

Exposed feet shine with nail polish

And ride in Easter float shoes

Sweet floral odors float from necks, wrists,

And ankles

Sprayed upon them

To attract the male of the species.
