I-76 Closed After Massive Pileup of Two Dozen Cars

About 60 people were involved in the accident as freezing rain and ice made travel dangerous Sunday morning.

An accident involving more than two dozen cars and about 60 people were involved in a pileup that resulted in the closure of Interstate 76 in both directions in Montgomery County, according to weather.com.

According to the Pennsylvania Turnpike, the highway is closed between Morgantown and Delaware River Bridge.

It was unclear if anyone was injured in the accident.

The accident happened right before 7 a.m. and is one of several accidents that took place as freezing rain and drizzle made travel dangerous in the region Sunday morning.

In Bucks County, there were over 100 accidents Sunday morning, including some that involved EMS vehicles, and about 231 accidents had been reported in New Jersey since midnight.

The Walt Whitman, Betsy Ross, and Ben Franklin bridges from New Jerey into Philadelphia are all closed, according to 511nj.org.
