Montgomery County's 'Most Wanted Criminal Fugitive' Captured in Florida

Jason Robert Baldwin, who has been charged with 39 felonies in connection with a series of burglaries in July 2012, was captured Thursday.

An alleged serial burglar who was on the county’s Most Wanted Criminal Fugitive list was captured Thursday in Florida, Montgomery County Sheriff Russell Bono announced.

Jason Robert Baldwin, 36, who has been charged with 39 felonies in connection with a series of burglaries in July 2012, was captured in Osceola County. He formerly resided in Pottstown.

Law enforcement officials determined the address of Baldwin’s girlfriend through government sources and picked him up there Thursday morning without incident as he was sleeping, Bono said via Facebook.

“No doubt this was a rude awakening for him,” Bono said, thanking Osceola law enforcement for their assistance.

Between June 12 and July 23, 2012 state police allege that Baldwin, along three other men, committed more than 25 daytime burglaries throughout Montgomery County, eastern Berks County and northern Chester County.

According to court records, all of the alleged burglaries happened on weekdaysbetween 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. The suspects allegedly struck only single-family dwellings, and in most cases, used a pillowcase to carry the stolen items, like cash, jewelry, electronics and guns, officials said.
