Home Damaged by Christmas Morning Blaze

No injuries were reported in the blaze that struck shortly before noon.

No one was home Christmas morning when a blaze damaged a home in the 1200 block of Whitney Road at around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.

The fire is believed to have started in the garage section of the home before moving into the second floor of the two-story structure, Fire Chief Glenn McKenney said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the fire marshal, he added.

The fire was placed under control about 15 minutes after firefighting operations had begun, McKenney told Patch.

Nearby residents, many still in their pajamas, watched as firefighters worked to douse the flames that were pertruding from the home, which is owned by an older gentelman, a neighbor said.

Firefighters from Hartsville and Northampton assited Christmas morning.
