UPDATED: Tree Burns in Blaze

11:41 a.m.: At around 11:30 a.m., Southampton firefighters responded to the scene of this morning's fire to investigate reports of brush that was on fire.

9:46 a.m.: An evergreen tree was burnt to a crisp in a bizarre blaze Wednesday morning between the and the .

The fire was mostly out when firefighters from Northampton and arrived at around 9 a.m.

With a few quick blasts from a hose, the last remaining flames were out and fire crews cut down the tree and sprayed down nearby mulch.

Minute earlier, when Assistant Fire Chief Todd Hanefeld arrived at the scene he said saw smoke pouring across Second Street Pike.

The cause of the tree fire remains undetermined, Hanefeld said.
