Budding artists gathered on the Upper St. Clair Community Playground on Friday, June 7, for the 17th annual Art in the Park event sponsored by the Upper St. Clair Township Library. One hundred children up to age 6 enjoyed a fun-filled two hours of artistic expression.
There were stations throughout the park where the young artists could paint using various techniques, draw in shaving cream, use play dough, markers and stamps, do crayon rubbings and learn about invisible ink. There was also a station where they could string cereal on pipe cleaners to make bracelets. String one, eat one seemed to be the popular method here! The chalk art and giant bubble making stations were also big hits.
The new playground and park area was perfect for the event with the children taking turns at the stations and on the playground. Everyone enjoyed a great day and hopefully signed up for the summer reading programs at the library. If you haven’t yet, there’s still plenty of time to do so. Just stop in the library and we’ll help you get started.
